China Yunnan Golden Tips Black Tea

For this black tea, the best fresh leaves with many white buds are picked. The white buds are discolored by the strong fermentation and the hot air when heated in the dryer and take on a slight golden brown color.

Evenly rolled, grey-black leaves. The high number of golden tips makes the tea pretty and valuable.

The cup color is bright, reddish brown.

It tastes rich aromatic, sweet dry, a bit earthy and slightly smoky, just like good black teas from Yunnan.

China White Silver Needle

As with Yin Zhen, only the youngest shoots of the white-haired, unopened leaf buds are harvested in spring for this tea. This picking material corresponds to the most original process of producing white tea. In the further processing, however, there are deviations from the original way.

The tea is processed like green tea, in that it is thoroughly heated to deactivate the enzymes responsible for the fermentation of the tea.

The small, slightly rolled, pure leaf buds show a silver-grey to white hair coat.

The cup color is light cream and transparent clear.

The taste is mild, pleasantly dry, with the taste of green tea.

China Yunnan Green Jade Snail

The fresh hand-picked leaves for this tea contains both the best white-haired tea buds and excellent young leaf shoots from the best harvest season in March and late summer. The mix of manual processing and machine processing gives this tea a special touch. 

The large tea leaves are very uniform and heavily rolled and strongly interspersed with the valuable white-haired buds.

China Yunnan Snow Dragon

This tea, harvested in spring or summer, is made exclusively from the young leaf buds of the tea bush. Due to very careful withering, drying and gently rolling by hand in a heated wok-like pan, this tea gets its shape. The excellent picking material, which also can be used to produce white tea, is for this type processed like green tea, by withering, steaming, rolling, heating and cooling until the tea finally reaches the desired moisture content. 

Large, silver-white haired leaf buds. 

The cup color is transparent, clear and white. 

A soft, very light and pleasantly dry fresh cup with a slight taste of green tea.

China Yunnan Pu Erh Black Tea

For this dark Pu Erh tea the best fresh leaves and white buds are picked. Due to fermentation and hot air when heated in the dryer, the white buds turn golden brown. Through steaming, the golden-brown buds turn into a lighter golden brown and the tea receives a kind of mold. This tea is typical of the region around the city of Pu’er.

Evenly rolled tea leaves with golden leaf tips make the tea valuable.

The taste is highly aromatic, slightly musty earthy without being obtrusive, as is common in poor Pu Erh teas.

The cup color is bright, reddish brown.

It tastes mild, sweet-dry and aromatic.

China Yunnan Yellow Golden Dragon

The harvest season of this exceptionally good tea is both spring and summer. Precious white-haired buds with one or two young leaves are picked and processed in several steps as green tea. Before the tea is completely dried, the drying process is interrupted and the tea oxidizes slightly with the oxygen in the air. When the desired level of oxidation is reached, the tea is then dried under high heat. In this drying process, the color of the white buds changes into a gold yellow color.

Long golden yellow buds and young leaves.

The cup color is dark yellow.

It tastes soft, dry, fragrant aromatic and is reminiscent of green tea, oolong and black tea.

An absolute top quality = Grade 1 (very good).

China Yunnan White Moonlight

The harvest time of this specialty tea is both spring and summer. The valuable white-haired buds with one or two young leaves are picked. As in the production of white tea, the picking material is only air dried.

The buds retain their white color after drying while the young leaves ferment slightly and turn brown.

QINGSHAN TEA GARDEN

China Bai Mu Dan

The modern and inexpensive version of white tea. Here, the white-haired bud with the two youngest leaves (instead of only the white bud) is usually picked in spring. Because much more tea material can be picked this way in less time it becomes cheaper. However, this has virtually nothing to do with the original quality of the picking material.

Large green to brown tea leaves, interspersed with a high proportion of white buds.

The cup color is light yellow and transparent.

The taste is soft, fragrant and aromatic.

Medium quality, hand-picked and air dried · medium quality = Grade 3 (satisfactory).

China Green Chun Mee

The classic, inexpensive and most produced green tea in China is also the most popular green tea in Europe, at least in terms of the amount of consumption. These teas are harvested in very large quantities by machine and are mainly exported. For green tea consumers in Europe, these are simple, inexpensive, and tasty teas.

Grey-green short, wiry, unevenly rolled tea leaves. 

The cup color is green, light yellow to yellow. 

It tastes fine dry, fruity with a very light smoky note.

China Green Fannings

This green fannings tea is produced during the processing of green Chun Mee. Looking like finely chopped, this green tea is created by abrasion while rolling the Chun Mee tea leaves. Generally, during the production of green leaf tea about 15 to 20 percent fannings arise.

Because of its small leaf size this tea is suitable for filling teabags. The quality is different depending on the season of picking, just as with Chun Mee.

The taste is pleasant, dry and fruity.

China Green Yun Wu Mao Feng (Summer)

For this simpler version of Mao Feng fresh leaf material of lower quality is used, which is picked in summer when it is hot, and the tea leaves are less rich. The processing method is the same for both Mao Feng teas. An inexpensive tea for moderate standards.

The tea leaves are dark green, somewhat uneven, with fibre.

The cup color is light yellow and transparent.

The taste is unspectacular, dry, fruity with grassy parts.

China Jasmine Chun Hao

For this green jasmine tea, the bud with the 3 to 5 youngest tea leaves is harvested by machine twice a year, in spring and autumn.

The tea, which is scented three times with fresh jasmine flowers, is ideal for absorbing the mild and natural jasmine fragrance.

The "Superior" quality has slightly more tips and a lighter cup than the simple Jasmine Chun Hao.

Dark green leaves, strongly interspersed with white leaf buds (tips).

The cup color is greenish, light yellow and transparent.

It tastes pleasantly mild, fine dry and flowery.

China Mao Feng Supergreen (Spring)

The harvest time of this excellent green tea is in the cool time in early spring. When the shoots grow slowly, the two youngest and smallest tea leaves are harvested without the bud. This selection of leaves without the buds gives the tea its deep dark green color.

China White Cui Min (Spring)

This spring harvest tea is made exclusively from young leaf buds with the yet not opened youngest leaf. Due to careful withering, drying and the gently rolling by hand in a heated wok-like pan, this tea gets its shape. The excellent picking material, which also could be used to produce white tea, is processed like green tea: withering, pan-firing, rolling, heating and cooling until the tea finally reaches the desired moisture content.

China White Paklum Yin Zhen (Spring)

White tea in its most natural and original form. This tea is picked and produced only in the spring, after the tea plants had enough time during the winter to grow undisturbed. Only the young white-haired and unopened buds are harvested.

After picking, the buds are spread and dried in the fresh air. The buds are treated very carefully so that the white hairs on the buds remain as undamaged as possible.

The naturally dried, large pure leaf buds show a silver-grey to white hair coat. Therefore this type of tea is called Silver Needle.

The cup color is light cream to white and transparent clear.

It tastes subtle, smooth and fragrant.

China Jasmine Fannings

This green Jasmine fannings tea is produced during the processing of green Chun Mee and Jasmine leaf tea.

Looking like finely chopped this green tea is created by abrasion while rolling the Chun Mee tea leaves. Generally, during the production of green leaf tea about 15 to 20 percent fannings arise. The tea is scented with natural jasmine flowers. Because of its small leaf size this tea is suitable for filling teabags.

China Green Gunpowder

Gunpowder is sold in many different qualities in European retail. The tea got its name because of its spherical shape reminding of gunpowder. In China, these spherical teas are called Zhucha (pearl tea). They are partly low-grade and inexpensive teas. The tea is harvested in late spring and autumn. The 3 to 5 youngest green shoots are harvested by machine and processed as green tea. 

The inexpensive material is processed by machine. The leaves are rolled under great pressure, giving the tea its spherical appearance. When compared to other Gunpowder qualities, this tea performs very well, because the climatic conditions in the Qingshan tea farm are excellent. The island location, which is amid a water reserve that creates a perfectly humid climate, is especially beneficial to the quality of these teas.

China Green Pi Lo Chun Bai Ye (Spring)

In the months of April and May the fresh buds with the two to three youngest tea leaves are harvested and machine-processed into a green tea, which qualitatively clearly stands out from the summer productions but still has low production costs. 

Dark green leaves, interspersed with white small leaf buds. 

The cup color is green, bright and clear.

It tastes like a fine dry green tea with a sweet character.

China Lung Ching

Dragon Well tea is offered in many different qualities at extremely varying prices. The name comes from the village of Lung Ching (modern transcription: Longjing) in the province of Zheijang, located near the city of Hangzhou.

Classic Lung Ching is traditionally produced there and can be sold at astronomical prices in China. Today, this type of tea is made in almost all provinces, but rarely reaches the quality of the traditional original. The harvest time of this simple tea from Guizhou is summer.

China Sencha

Sen Cha means boiled green tea in Japanese. This is the common name for teas produced with fully automated manufacturing lines developed in Japan. After mechanical picking of the tea bushes, the tea leaves are slightly withered and then steamed with 110° C hot water vapour. The demand of the Japanese people for this tea is so great that the domestic tea production cannot meet the demand alone. Japan imports more tea than it exports. On behalf of Japanese tea importers, such fully automated Sencha production facilities are being installed in tea growing countries around the world, so that this tea can also be produced in other countries.

Flat-pressed, light to dark green tea leaves. The cup color is pale green to pale yellow and transparent clear. 

The cup tastes dry, slightly grassy with a light fruity note.

Until a few years ago, hardly any other teas were known in Europe. It was only with the increasing interest of European consumers in green tea that consumption and variety of types increased, and higher-quality green and white teas came to Europe.

For green tea consumers in Europe, these are simple, inexpensive, tasty teas.
